Chiayi City Government and the National Science and Technology Museum co-organized the Chiayi City Pandemic Prevention Camp 2021, and the mayor Ming-hui Huang in person attended the opening ceremony today and took part in the event. The camp introduces contagious diseases and their prevention through games, and it has drawn over 1.6 million visitors.

Huang is grateful to the National Science and Technology Museum and the National Health Research Institutes for holding the event in Chiayi. Even though people are used to wearing masks in public areas, they still need to learn about the correct information of dengue fever, flu and the corona so as to have the right attitude to face them.

Xun-xiang Chen, the Curator of the National Science and Technology Museum, appreciates the professional information provided by the National Health Research Institutes which made the event a success. Scientists do the research while the museum passes down the knowledge and apply it to everyday life. Chen wishes to have more chances of collaborating with Chiayi City.

The event is mainly about dengue fever, flu and COVID-19. People can learn basic information and the precautions for dengue fever and flus through interactive games. As for COVID-19, people learn about it through hilarious graphic novels.

The project “Wolbachia – Biocontrol for Dengue Fever” made by the National Health Research Institutes and the National Science and Technology Museum is also a hot topic in the event. People can observe the differences and habits of male and female mosquitoes.

The hours of the event are from 8:30AM to 4PM and the duration is from May 8 to June 2. It takes place at Chiayi City Municipal Stadium. In response of the precautions announced by the Central Epidemic Command Center, the event shares the same entrance and exit spot and the number of visitors in the stadium will be controlled under 100. Visitors must wear masks, cooperate to take temperature and leave follow the contact-based policy..
