Chiayi City celebrated Police Day early with a ceremony on June 9, led by Mayor Huang Min-Hui, city councilors, and community leaders. The event featured the grand opening of the Police Vision Hall and the new Interactive Simulation Training Range, as well as commendations for model officers, veteran personnel, and outstanding volunteers.
Mayor Huang highlighted that the Police Vision Hall, centered around a symbolic "Tree of Vision," reflects on the department’s history while outlining future goals. Through historical photos and thematic exhibits, the hall offers both educational and inspirational value, reinforcing a shared vision for safe and sustainable policing.
To address evolving social and criminal challenges, Mayor Huang emphasized the importance of modern training and education. The Interactive Simulation Training Range, powered by advanced technology, enhances officers' response capabilities and ensures safety during duty. “Only the most rigorous training can protect both the public and the dignity of those who serve,” she said.
The mayor also expressed concern over recent central government budget cuts, with Chiayi facing a reduction of NT$1.712 billion in general subsidies. She urged national authorities to safeguard local funding and fulfill infrastructure promises—particularly for the city’s light rail project—to ensure balanced regional development.
The Chiayi City Police Bureau noted that this year’s honored officers, Police Officer Chan Yung-Hsuan and Investigator Huang Pin-Feng, played a crucial role in dismantling fraud and drug rings. Their dedication exemplifies the strength of Chiayi’s law enforcement and the city’s ongoing commitment to public safety.
