We create new experience of the modern culture based on the rich cultural heritage to respond to the needs of modern life. We will establish the information cluster (the main library, G9 Creative Park, Chiayi Tobacco Factory and tutoring center) to make libraries not only somewhere for borrowing books but a space for learning. Wing Base of Arts and Culture is set up in G9 Creative Park. A new performance hall with the capacity of 280 people will be built as well as the new exhibition area of the art museum. We will keep promoting Chiayi Tobacco Culture Park and build a new spot of arts and culture by combining concepts of technology and designing. This is to present the valuable and unique culture of Chiayi City and to shape the life and imagination of the citizens.

After clocking out, the director-general enjoyed the bath as the happiest moment once a month. She entered the bathtub with the doubts at work while the water spilling out. “Eureka! Eureka!” she shouted. We make culture spill out if the citizens do not enter the bathtub (Cultural Affairs Bureau).

In the future, Chiayi City will establish an inclusive people-oriented space by introducing the mindset of design and technical resources. We will renovate historic buildings and revitalize old spaces to add more artistic places where artworks and performances can be exhibited. There will be no more fences for arts and culture.

  Disaster prevention for wooden structures: Protecting the 6,000 wooden structures within this city by making related plans to ensure the safety of the old houses by meeting modern living requirements.

   

  Design talent and industry development: Introducing the concept of design to build a local brand from designing, making to products.

  Main Library: Building a people-oriented library-themed park as a communication space for lifelong learning by combining the elements of the wooden city and local features.

   

  Wing Base of Arts and Culture: Developing new base of arts and culture. Planning a diverse performing space with the capacity of 280 people. Setting up storage room for valuable art collections.

   

  Chiayi Tobacco Culture Park: Old factory as the starting point, planning the old Chiayi Tobacco Factory to build a place of diverse arts and culture. Process of tobacco making and the change of city as the concept for the preservation of the old site.

   

  Placemaking for the dormitories of the old prison: Open up with the base of wood to extend to various topics such as education, creation, life and recreation in order to enrich the life in the dormitories.

  Military Village Life Cultural Museum: Preserving the culture of military villages to build a diverse recreational space.

   

  Building Material Bank of Hinoki: Founding the one and only building material bank of hinoki for the recycling of 2^nd-handed materials. Combining the resources of the experimental sawmill to provide advice on renovation of old wooden houses and to supply materials. Creating unique life style of sustainable development.

   

  Library and Information Cluster: Organizing libraries within the city and repositioning them as places for socializing and knowledge transmission. Deepening knowledge into each aspect of life to open up a new imagination to libraries.
