The 2025 “320+1 Chiayi City Expo” officially opened in vibrant fashion on the evening of December 12, with a spectacular immersive opening show titled Chiayi in Motion: The Time Train. The cross-disciplinary production brought together music, dance, theater, and baseball culture to trace more than three centuries of Chiayi’s urban story, drawing enthusiastic crowds and igniting citywide excitement.
Renowned performers including Hsu Fu-Kai, Fang You-Hsin, Suming, Amazing Show, and Wang Tsai-Hua made surprise appearances, delivering powerful performances that showcased Chiayi’s deep cultural roots and dynamic creative energy. Mayor Huang Min-Hui, along with the city government team, joined citizens on site to celebrate the city’s milestone moment.
Mayor Huang remarked that the overwhelming enthusiasm from the audience was deeply moving. She extended special thanks to acclaimed music curator MCKY LIN, who returned to his hometown of Chiayi for the first time to serve as music director for the Expo. Tailoring a unique soundscape for the city, the production embodied the spirit of “320+1”—a reflection of collective effort, with every step forward built through shared dedication. The opening night reached a high point as Mayor Huang joined the crowd in chanting the Expo’s signature slogan, “All of Chiayi—Let’s Fly Together!”
On December 13, the celebration continued with the “Goodness +1 Music Festival,” themed Chiayi Always in Tune. Five distinctive acts—A Feeling, Chuang Ka Ren, Aoi ft. Wang Hui-Chu, Sunset Rollercoaster, and Crowd Lu—took turns on stage, representing diverse musical styles and emotional landscapes. From folk and rock to electronic and traditional elements, the performances highlighted Chiayi’s openness as a city that embraces all voices and stories.
One of the most touching moments came from Chiayi-born singer-songwriter Wang Hui-Chu, who performed alongside folk-electronic group Aoi. Their heartfelt songs, capturing the emotions of longing and homecoming, resonated strongly with the audience, reinforcing Chiayi’s image as a warm harbor for those returning home.
Other performances added further depth to the festival atmosphere: A Feeling expressed raw emotion through rock-infused vintage sounds; Chuang Ka Ren reimagined traditional Beiguan and local folklore through contemporary music; Sunset Rollercoaster painted Chiayi’s nightscape with soulful, city-pop tones; and Crowd Lu, the youngest Triple Golden Award winner, closed the night with selections from his latest album HeartBreakFast, offering comfort and warmth through humor and melody.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau noted that the 320+1 Chiayi City Expo will continue through December 28, featuring a rich lineup of cultural and performing arts events, including Taiwanese-language classics concerts, theater productions, international band performances, and the grand closing celebration. The city warmly invites visitors from across Taiwan to experience Chiayi’s stories, creativity, and enduring charm.
